Nikki J

Nikki J started her passion for singing at the young age of 6, when she had her first performance singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game at the local Bears baseball game. She got a standing ovation and that was it, she knew she wanted to do this the rest of her life. She joined many local singing competitions and performed with the singing group Melody Lane Academy. At around the age of 17, she started entering bigger competitions on TV shows including American Idol and America’s Got Talent. Neither were successful, but were great learning experiences. At 18, she joined a band, eventually named Powerline, and found her comfort zone performing covers on stage in front of crowds for 6 years. In 2014, she entered the 7th season of the singing competition show, The Voice, where she made top 100 out of 50,000 people, and was featured on the show. It was the best experience of her life. After taking a long break, she decided to jump back in the music scene starting the 80’s, 90’s, and now cover band Englewood Heights with, guitar player, Jerry Gillespie, who was in Powerline many years before. Now, Nikki J and Jerry are so excited for this new venture playing weekly for Selah’s new Outskirts Brewery and their first time ever at Chinook Fest!
